Evaluating the Rail-Based Multimodal Freight Transportation after HSR Entry in Yangtze River Delta Economics Zone

In recent years, China keeps working on restructuring the country’s multimodal transport and highly develops high-speed rail (HSR) infrastructure to improve efficiency. As economic engine of China, Yangtze River Delta region leading HSR development transporting modal transformation within whole country. The fast one hand improves passengers’ travel efficiency and, other hand, releases capacity conventional infrastructures support regional freight transport. This study applies a three-level AHP structure constructs comprehensive index evaluate rail-based network including railway, rail-water, rail-road. contains 14 quantitative 8 qualitative indexes, covering infrastructures, capability, performance, sustainability. is then applied analyze for region. operational data 59 stations more than 200 railway links were recorded. About 172 valid questionnaires collected score all indexes are scored based real-life data. results reveal impacts transportation show that Zhejiang has led while Shanghai mainly leads waterway transportation.
